Trump predicts Democrats will face mammoth backlash if they pass their spending bills

Former President Donald Trump said Friday that Democrats will be jeopardizing their political future if they pass their mammoth infrastructure and social spending bills because Americans view them as a tax-increasing “ripoff.”

“If they vote on this bill, I think we’ll pick up an extra 30 seats,” Trump told Fox News, projecting a GOP landslide in 2022. “Because people don’t want a tax increase, and they don’t want a Green New Deal, and that’s what this is.”

The former president said he was surprised by the recent Democratic infighting between House progressives and moderate senators like Kirstin Sinema and Joe Manchin over the legislation.

“The one thing I’ll say is the Democrats, they’re vicious, they have horrible policy, but they stick together,” Trump said. “This is the first time I have seen it (dissension) in a long time.”

He urged Republicans to remain united in opposing the bills, predicting their passage would reap President Biden huge electoral setbacks.

“It is hard to believe they won’t do it, but I think if they do it, it’s going to cost [Biden] a lot in the election,” Trump said. “Because the people don’t want it. It is a rip-off for America. It is a big tax increase.”
