WATCH: Ukrainian President: “I Know The Details Better [Than Joe Biden]”

A guest post by Hailey Sanibel of Blue State Conservative.

How do you say “Let’s go, Brandon” in Ukrainian? (I looked it up and still don’t know.)

Anyways, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky came about as close as any Eastern European leader has in uttering the Catchphrase of the Year in a recent Q&A session with reporters. When asked about the phone call, he addressed the topic by reminding everyone that he, and not Brandon, was physically in Kiev and knew the situation on the ground perhaps a little better than a president sitting across the Atlantic Ocean. Makes sense.

The situation in Ukraine has escalated to a point of absurd political theater. It is worth asking why Ukraine has always been involved in recent American affairs. Under then-president Obama, Putin took back parts of Crimea; then-Vice President Biden withheld billions of dollars in aid unless certain prosecutors were relieved of their duty; Hunter sat on the board of Burisma; and now, we find ourselves in the closest thing to a proxy war with Far East superpowers since Vietnam. Why is it so important and how do we always end up there?

As Barack Obama derided Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential debates: “The 1980s are calling. They want their foreign policy back.” As far as I am concerned, the 1980s can take it all back. What are we still doing in Eastern Europe?

The scariest thing with the Ukraine fiasco is that you get the sense this could escalate really quickly. Under Joe Biden, America’s foregin policy has been nonexistent, save for the goal of embarrassing our country and abandoning allies. If that was the policy plan, then congratulations, mission accomplished. While Putin and Xi amass gigantic, capable armies, Biden’s Department of Defense is trialing new flight suits for expectant mothers who are medically grounded anyways.

If Putin decides to act, Biden has cornered himself into a powerless position. Either he stands by his words of retaliation and puts our soldiers in unnecessary harm’s way or he stands down and allows the world to see that our commander-in-chief has no clothes. There is also the risk that Biden wants to bizarrely show force, despite the ignominious retreat from Kabul, and will assert his newfound dominance in Kiev. It seems unwise to posture with Russia, which makes this scenario frighteningly more plausible. Since when does the Biden administration do what is sensible?
