‘Grift disguised as an audit’: Maricopa County blasts Arizona Senate GOP election review

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors aired its grievances against Arizona Senate Republicans in a special public meeting Monday to respond to claims by Senate President Karen Fann about the board’s noncompliance with the ongoing audit of the 2020 general election.

“We are here under bizarre circumstances,” Chairman Jack Sellers said, repeatedly denouncing and belittling his fellow Republicans and the contractors they hired to run this “grift designed as an audit.”

He complained that the county has better things to do than conduct “on the job training” for Cyber Ninjas, the lead contractor with no previous experience in elections. “The ninjas can’t even find files that were given to them” by the county, and yet they are paid with taxpayer dollars.

“People’s ballots and money are not make believe,” Sellers said. “It’s time to be done with this craziness.” In a press conference following the meeting, he claimed that certified election auditors wouldn’t have asked the questions Cyber Ninjas asked: They aren’t “truly trying to find honest answers.”
